Beckon serves marketers who want to bring order to chaos, make data-informed optimization decisions, and tell the marketing story in terms of business impact.
Beckon, Inc, an enterprise software company, was founded by serial entrepreneur Jenny Zeszut (currently founder of Goodles) on the heels of selling her previous startup, ScoutLabs. I landed the project by competing in a "bake off" (winner takes all).
Working together at Razorfish, Jenny and I shared a passion for building things driven by data and customer insights. During this tenure, we built award-winning websites and digital-first experiences for global brands such as Visa, Genentech, Intuit, and Sun Microsystems. My role was Executive Creative Director, where I managed a team of designers, led client relationships, and business development.
I was hired for my “out of the box” approach. I promptly engaged illustrator John Hersey and animator Craig Sarachene to produce a comprehensive visual brand system across website, digital touchpoints, ad media, events, and internal and external communications. The creative focused on ephemeral, lyrical elements that spoke to the very human, honest soul of Beckon's novel technology: a highly sophisticated enterprise marketing product elegantly unlocks valuable insights from overwhelming amounts of big data.
Over many months of collaborative, iterative discovery and definition, Beckon's new messaging emerged. Our communications were fun, fluid, very experimental, and agile. Our reviews centered on brand experience and essence. What we ultimately came away with was an overarching, versatile structure that carried the look, feel, and message across all the communication channels that typically make up today's marketing platform, including a "behind the scenes" video and a food truck for Ad Week, of course.
More about Beckon: A California-based enterprise software company that provides real-time marketing intelligence and data management to help businesses make faster, more informed decisions. The platform offers features such as automated data management, cross-channel marketing performance visibility, integrated campaign planning, and omnichannel analytics to help marketers optimize spending and demonstrate the impact of their efforts.
Not surprisingly, 7 short years later, Beckon, Inc. was acquired by Lithium Technologies.
